Double victory for Maxim Rehm in Wackersdorf

Maxim Rehm finished the second race weekend of the German Junior Kart Championship with a confident performance. In the Prokart Raceland Wackersdorf, the youngster dominated the final races on Sunday and was the only driver to ever celebrate a double victory.

Already four weeks ago, the season opener of the highest German Kart Championship took place at the Erftlandring in Kerpen. Maxim was already one of the favorites there and now lived up to this role once again in the second round. The 1,197-meter-long Prokart Raceland in Wackersdorf welcomed 183 drivers from all over the world.

For Maxim, it was nice to drive on German soil again: "Due to my international assignments, I am rarely on the track in Germany. I know the track here in Wackersdorf very well from the past years and am confident for the races."

Already in qualifying, being placed third showed that he belongs in the top field and Maxim also continued in the heats. With a third place and a victory, he improved to second place in the intermediate classification. "I am level on points with the leader and I am going into the race tomorrow from front row. It is now all in my hands to make a victory out of it," said an ambitious Maxim Rehm.

However, the start into the first of two finals was not perfect. At the beginning, the protégé from the British team Ricky Flynn Motorsport slipped back to fourth place. But with a strong performance, he fought his way back to the front and only a little later took the lead. He extended it until the finish and set the pace at will.

From pole position, the second final was the peak of an outstanding weekend. Maxim controlled the entire field and always kept the necessary distance between himself and his chasers. With his double success, the driver from Baden-Württemberg has now improved to second place in the championship and still has every chance of winning the title with three race weekends left. The last time a German driver managed to win the DJKM was in 2014 – a losing streak that Maxim would like to end.

"There is not much to say. This was a perfect Sunday, the pace was outstanding in the finals. When my competition came a little closer, I could still add a bit and thus protect my material and my tires. That was the key to success. A huge thank you to the whole team and all the people who stand behind me, without their support this result would not have been possible", Maxim summed up his race weekend.

In just a few days he will continue, then the next race of the international WSK Euro Series will take place at the Adria Raceway in Italy. The German Junior Kart Championship, on the other hand, takes a short break and reports back from 30.07.-01.08. in Genk, Belgium.
