Successful Sunday concludes WSK in La Conca

Rain, collisions, and a race to catch up: these were the ingredients for Maxim Rehm at the third round of the WSK Super Masters Series in La Conca, Italy. After a difficult start, the youngster showed a successful race to catch up in the final and improved by twelve positions.

From the north of Italy, Maxim Rehm travelled further south. The second half of the WSK Super Masters Series season started on the more than 1,200-meter-long racetrack in La Conca. For the rookie, it was about gaining further experience in the new category and preparing for the upcoming season in the German and European Championships.

Already during the training sessions, the vagaries of the racetrack became apparent. High grip required a high level of precision: "We sometimes drive through the curves with two wheels, so it is important to find the right braking and turning point," explained the 14-year-old. But from the heats on, the international field of participants had to struggle with other challenges.

Unexpected rain showers shaped the events in the three heats. In 16th place after qualifying, Maxim had a good starting position. However, he was the victim of an accident in all three heats and had to fight his way forward. Nevertheless, the protégé from the Ricky Flynn Motorsport team lost ground and was only in 31st place in the intermediate classification.

On Sunday, however, the dark clouds disappeared again. The final race started in bright sunshine. From the field of pursuers, he skilfully fought his way forward and crossed the finish line in a good 19th place. "That was a good outcome to an exciting final. I made up twelve places and slipped just past the point rankings. The speed is there, now it has to run smoothly in the races," the LN kart driver continued.

Already next weekend Maxim will go to the final of the WSK Super Masters Series. Then, the international championship will take place at the gates of Naples in Sarno.
