Strong senior debut by Maxim Rehm

After three successful junior years, Maxim Rehm took the next step in his motorsport career at the WSK Final Cup last weekend. In the Italian Adriatic he started for the first time in the senior class and knew how to convince immediately.

A few weeks after the Kart World Championship, the 14-year-old from Baden-Württemberg was back at the start. The WSK Final Cup took place at the Adria Raceway, for Maxim this was the first chance to prove himself in the new senior environment. "The tests have already been very promising. For me, it is now about getting used to the new more powerful engine and the tires," Maxim explained in advance.

But already during the tests his competitiveness became apparent. Maxim was in second place of the 40-man field in the last run before qualifying. However, qualifying did not go as planned, a not ideal lap brought him only position 16. "Unfortunately, I had some traffic and lost important time as a result. In such a narrow field, it costs a few positions right away," revealed the protégé of Ricky Flynn Motorsport.

In the heats, however, Maxim worked his way up again, and even finished a run in fourth place. Unfortunately, there was a bitter setback in the pre-final. In a promising position, the youngster retired five laps before the end and fell far behind. From the end of the field, he went into the 20-lap final, in which he once again proved his great talent. When the checkered flag fell, he finished twelfth and recorded the third fastest race lap on his account.

"That was a dramatic Sunday. In the pre-final I was still lucky in misfortune. Despite my retirement, I was the last to make it to the final, where things went really well. Catching up 22 positions in such a field is not easy. I would like to thank my team and my mechanics for their support. The promotion to the OK class makes you want more," Maxim continues.

Before he goes into the winter break, however, a highlight awaits the young German. From December 1st to 5th, Maxim will start the SKUSA Super Nationals in Las Vegas. More than 500 drivers will compete in the mega event in the Nevada desert.
