WSK final with hurdles for Maxim Rehm

Last weekend, the final of the WSK Super Masters Series took place in Lonato (Italy). The German young hope Maxim Rehm wanted to shine again in the final, but during the three race days not everything went according to plan, and the German driver missed the point rankings.

Maxim Rehm began the journey to Lake Garda with great expectations. Already two weeks ago he was on the 1,200-meter-long track and narrowly missed the podium. This time, however, it should work out, the 13-year-old was confident before the start: "I have proven that I can ride at the front and I want to show that again this time. With a good result, I can still make a big leap in the overall rankings."

This time the weather ensured constant conditions: Sunshine brought the best conditions on and off the track. Nevertheless, the mood after qualifying was somewhat sad. Being placed 21st, Maxim was below his expectations, but improved the following preliminary rounds and was placed 14th in the intermediate classification on Saturday night.

"We found a good setup for the kart in the preliminaries, and I know how to drive in the pre-finals tomorrow. If all goes well, a place in the front ranks is within realistic range," said the youngster from team Ricky Flynn Motorsport, looking confidently at the finals.

But it did not work that easily in the end: Ranked 13th in the pre-final, Maxim was the victim to a chaotic start in the final and found himself in last place. But with a great catch-up chase he made the connection to the field again and still fought his way up to rank 19. However, he still missed the point rankings.

"I am now placed 14th overall. All in all, it was a good start to the year. I have proven that we are competitive, and that is what we need to build on. The focus is now on the German and European Championships, both of which will start in the coming weeks," Maxim continues to be combative.

For Maxim, the racing circus will continue as early as next weekend. Then he uses the races of the Champions for the future in Genk, Belgium, in preparation for the FIA Kart European Championship, which takes place from May 13th to 15th in the same place.
