Maxim Rehm will continue at full throttle in the still young 2021 season. In the last few days he started at the WSK Super Masters Series in La Conca (Italy). The German youngster was again one of the top drivers but was unfortunately stopped by an accident on the way to the podium.
Strengthened by his successful season opener, Maxim Rehm was now waiting for a premiere. For the first time he competed on the 1,250 meter long track in La Conca. Already the first test drives made the young talent from Blaubeuren enthusiastic: "I felt comfortable on the track from the first lap on and I am looking forward to the weekend."
The start of the race went accordingly well. The youngster from the Ricky Flynn Motorsport Team was consistently the fastest driver in the British racing stable and worked his way up to fifth place in the intermediate rankings with four flawless heats. "So far I am very satisfied. We found a good setup today and I improved further in the heats. With this basis, we can fight for a top spot in the finals tomorrow," the 13-year-old from Germany said happily.
As predicted, Maxim relented in the pre-final. In a thrilling race, he fought his way to second place and thus had a good starting position for the final in the afternoon. In sunshine and blue skies, however, he got off to a very bad start and retired after only two corners. "Unfortunately, the driver in front of me did not get a good start, which caused my whole row to fall far behind. In the midfield it got really tight and there was a collision. This was, of course, a sad end to an otherwise really good weekend," Maxim concluded.
In two weeks, the next race of the WSK Super Masters Series is already waiting for the young hope from Germany. The third round of the international racing series takes place in Sarno, just outside Naples. Despite his failure, Maxim is placed fifth in the championship standings and still has all the chances in the title fight.
