A week after his successful start into the season, Maxim Rehm tied in with his performances at the start of the WSK Super Masters Series at the Adria Raceway in Italy and was once again among the top field of juniors. He finished the final as a strong sixth and collected important championship points.
340 drivers from over 50 nations travelled to the first of four races of the WSK Super Masters Series. The racing series is one of the international top racing series and is reckoned as an indicator for the European and World Championships. Germany's Maxim Rehm is one of the top favorites this year and also fulfilled his role over the weekend.
"We underlined our performance at the Champions Cup last weekend and were in the top field, I would like to build on that this time," the youngster from Blaubeuren said in advance.
Already in the free practice Maxim showed peak times and was also fastest in his qualifying group on Friday afternoon. Afterwards he was correspondingly satisfied: "That was a good start. I was in group one which is generally known as always being a bit slower than the other two. That is why I am third overall. That is still a good starting point for the heats."
A total of five heats had to be completed. Maxim won two races, finished second twice and third once. In doing so, he defended his position in the intermediate ranking and started from the first row of the grid into the pre-finals. In the race it was necessary to keep calm and to reach the goal without any major problems. A failure would endanger the safe qualification for the final. However, the driver from the world championship team Ricky Flynn Motorsport showed his routine and finished second.
"After I had to give up last weekend after the pre-final, I am now even happier to be in the final. I start from the second row into the race and have every chance of a good result", the kart talent from Baden-Württemberg looked forward to the final race with great excitement.
In the 16-lap race Maxim fought great fights with his international competition and was ranked as a great sixth in the end. That was his best result so far in the top racing series and another motivational boost for the upcoming season. At the same time, he was the best-placed German driver in all classes.
"I am very satisfied, it was great fun and a new experience for me. In the final I need a little more assertiveness in such a strong field. If I continue to work on it, the jump to the podium is not far away. A total of 93 drivers were at the start in my class, sixth place is already a great result. I would like to thank my team and all the people standing behind me for the great support," the 13-year-old concluded.
Maxim continues in two weeks. Then the WSK Super Masters Series starts in La Conca (Italy) into the second round.
