Last weekend, the German Kart Championship was a guest at arena E in Mülsen for the fourth race of the season. Maxim Rehm experienced some eventful races and celebrated a double victory on Sunday evening. He thus further extended his lead in the championship and has the best chance of winning the title at the finale in Wackersdorf.

The 1,315-meter-long Arena E in Mülsen and Maxim Rehm are a good duo. Last year, the youngster dominated the races of the DJKM and now managed a repeat in the DKM on race Sunday. Until then, however, it was a long and sometimes spectacular path. In the free practices, the youngster worked out a good setup and was confident before qualifying, "we have found a good basis and want to attack fully. "

But with fifth place on the grid after qualifying, he was behind his expectations and had to try to fight his way forward over the heats. He experienced two turbulent races on Saturday afternoon. In the first round he crossed the finish line as the winner, but a subsequent time penalty threw him back to twelfth place. With third place in the second race, however, he still limited the damage and was sixth on the grid for the first final.

"Today was not an easy day. After qualifying I was not satisfied and then tried to make the most of it in the heats. Nobody gave each other anything, you can discuss the penalty against me, but we want to focus on tomorrow and score more championship points," the 14-year-old summed up on Saturday evening.

From the third row of the grid, Maxim got off to a good start to the race Sunday. In the middle of the race, he fought for the lead and defended it until the finish. The second final was much more relaxed. After a good start, the protégé of Ricky Flynn Motorsport drove out a gap to his pursuers and celebrated a double victory at the finish.

"I thank Joseph, Scott and Nico for their support this weekend. We analyzed the mistakes of the day on Saturday evening and I turned them off today. Then it went much better. The two victories were very important in the fight for the title, in Wackersdorf it is now important to make the best of them," said the driver from Baden-Württemberg in the winner's interview.

But before he fights for the crown of the German Championship from 23.-25.9., he will compete a few days before at the Kart World Championship in Sarno, Italy. At the most prestigious race of the year, he is one of the few to represent the German colors.
