Last weekend, Maxim Rehm tackled the highlight of the season. The FIA Kart World Championship took place in Sarno, Italy. Drivers from all over the world went to the start and witnessed a strong performance by the Blaubeurener. With pole position in qualifying, he led the classification.

"We are well prepared for the World Championship and will now attack fully," said the 15-year-old even before the start of the race. In qualifying, he got right down to business - setting the fastest time in changeable conditions and leading the 90-driver strong field. This gave him the best starting position for the heats.

In these races, the Ricky Flynn Motorsport driver underlined his ambitions. With two second and third places in each race, he was among the top three, only suffering a setback in one race due to a puncture. Nevertheless, he still managed to finish in 13th place, putting him in ninth place in the intermediate standings.

"So far we can be very satisfied. We have the chance to fight for the World Championship title and we want to make the most of it," Maxim said on Saturday evening. Best weather, bright sunshine and full grandstands made for a perfect environment on the final race day. Maxim finished the Super Heats in sixth place and thus held grid position ten for the final.

He made a very good start in this one. After only a few laps, he was in sixth place and in direct contact with the leaders. But shortly after the middle of the race, he had to retire. Maxim was involved in a collision. The disappointment was correspondingly great: "What can I say! We have been working hard for the race for the last few weeks and the podium was within our grasp. Unfortunately, I am now empty-handed. Nevertheless, a big thanks goes to my team, our engine tuner One Engines, as well as Scott, Joseph and Nico for their support."

The race continues for Maxim in just a few days. Then he will fight for the title in the German Kart Championship in Wackersdorf. After a double victory at the last race in Mülsen, he leads the standings by a comfortable margin and can now win the highest title in German karting.
