Maxim Rehm becomes DKM half-time champion

The kart track in Ampfing, Bavaria, was the scene of the half-time races in the German Kart Championship this past weekend. Maxim Rehm from Germany was again among the German leaders and celebrated a victory and second place. With this he extended his overall lead and won the half-time title.

After his impressive victory at the last race in Genk, Maxim Rehm continued seamlessly in Ampfing. The youngster has known the 1,060-meter track since the beginning of his career and was looking forward to the race in front of a home crowd: "It is a great feeling to be here. I like the track and have already experienced good races here as a mini and junior. This can now be continued with the seniors."

And so it did, after a pole position in qualifying, Maxim also finished both heats as the winner. He scored maximum points on Saturday evening and was one of the favorites for the finals. "Today was a very good day. The whole team works hard for the success, for which I would like to thank Joseph, Scott and Nico," said the young German driver in the evening.

From the first starting position, Maxim also won the start of the morning final. But he could not really rest over the 24 laps of the race, his pursuer hung tight in his neck. Maxim, however, showed the necessary calm and celebrated his second victory of the season. "In the high temperatures, the races can be long, but my good fitness level helps me to keep calm," said the LN kart driver afterwards.

In the second race, Maxim won the start again and defended the lead until the middle of the race. From behind, however, a competitor stormed forward with four new tires. Maxim, on the other hand, had no chance and brought home a safe second place. "I knew it would not be easy with our tires. We can be satisfied with the result. These were very important points for the championship, in which I significantly expanded my position," the 14-year-old analyses.

In four weeks, the German Kart Championship will continue. Then the highest German karting rating will make a guest appearance in Arena E in Mülsen. Maxim has fond memories of last year, winning both races in the DJKM.
