Pole position at the season opening in Adria

This previous weekend, Maxim Rehm from Blaubeuren started into the new season and immediately delivered a strong performance. In the international field of juniors he was one of the best drivers and in the end lost the well-deserved entry into the final only by a lot of bad luck.

Finally, the German youngster Maxim Rehm went back to the race track. As one of 101 juniors, he started at the Adria Raceway in Italy. Already before the start, the 13-year-old was in a good mood: "I'm glad that it is finally starting again. To the extent possible, we have used the last weeks to practice. I feel very comfortable in my new team Ricky Flynn Motorsport and am confident for the rest of the season."

He then converted his good feeling into a great result directly in qualifying. Maxim took pole position in the field with the world's best kart drivers – great cheers for him and his team. "Wow, I did not expect that. It was all right," he shined in the finish.

Later in the heats Maxim showed that this result was not flash in the pan. He won three out of five rounds, but also had to record a failure in one run and slipped to 12th place in the intermediate ranking. However, that was not a reason to worry for the young driver from Baden-Württemberg.

In the pre-final on Sunday morning he immediately attacked and was back in the top field. But as the race distance grew, his tires disassembled. Maxim fell a little behind, but saw the checkered flag as a safe eighth. After that came the setback, in his numerous positional fights he got a spoiler penalty and slipped to 20th place – the entry into the final had been burst.

“It was very tragic and it annoyed me. I was one of the fastest and not being in the final now is obviously not satisfactory. But if we ignore that, we can be satisfied. The team did a great job and provided me with competitive material, so I managed to implement my performance on the track," Maxim concluded.

In just a few days he will be back on the racetrack in Italy, where the start of the WSK Super Masters Series will take place. After last weekend's performance, Maxim is now among the narrower favorites.
