For Maxim Rehm, last weekend was all about the European Kart Championship. The third race took place in Sarno, Italy, and Maxim Rehm gained further championship points after a successful final.
After Belgium and France, the third round of the FIA Kart European Championship took place in Sarno. The racetrack at the gates of Naples welcomed 149 drivers, with Maxim Rehm being the only German junior present.
Already two weeks ago Rehm was a guest in the final of the WSK Euro Series in Sarno and presented himself in the best mood, he now wanted to build on that. But already in the trainings, the 13-year-old struggled with his performance. "We are missing something to get to the top. I cannot get 100% out of the tires," Rehm analyzed.
In 23rd place after qualifying, the driver from Baden-Württemberg still had a good starting position and drove in the heats in the top ten. In the end, he qualified for the final being placed 19th. "We adjusted the kart a bit on Saturday evening, which turned out to be very good in the last heat this morning. With fourth place I was within striking distance. This is how it can now also go in the final," said the young talent from Germany confidently.
In the final over 17 laps, the protégé from the British team Ricky Flynn Motorsport delivered a strong performance. With great duels, he drove up to 13th place and was on the same level as the leaders. "The field is very tight at this level, so it is hard to make up positions. But I have now scored points and am looking forward to the European Championship final in Spain," Maxim was in a good mood on Sunday evening.
Already next weekend he will continue. Then Maxim will start at the second race of the Champions of the future in Zuera (Spain). The race is also a dress rehearsal for the European Championship.
